THE PHILOSOPHY
Our firm is founded on the philosophy of designing with meraki. This is a word that Greeks use to describe what happens when you leave a piece of yourself in your work. When you love doing something, anything, so much that you put something of yourself into it, it’s known as “working with meraki”. Each project becomes a part of us; and in turn, we leave a little piece of ourselves in each project.
THE FIRM
H+N is a woman-owned and operated, full service architectural firm. We have experience on projects ranging from multi-million dollar commercial buildings to residential. We do it all, because we love what we do. We enjoy working through a project and watching as it comes to fruition through the eyes of our clients. The client’s vision becomes our mission to carry out. Our purpose is to give each client (big or small) individual service and our undivided attention.
THE EFFECT
By working with meraki and meeting our clients’ needs, we hope to make a lasting impact in our local community. H+N is dedicated to giving back. We believe it is our responsibility to pour back into our community through whatever ways possible. We are working with several non-profits in our area in various ways to advance their missions. We’re not the solution, but we can be a piece of the puzzle.
Description | The H+N team, in association with WER Architects, was tasked with designing the University of Central Arkansas Greek Village Phase II. Greek Village Phase II consisted of designing four Interfraternity Council (IFC) Fraternity houses on Donaghey Avenue across from the Phase I Sorority houses. The plan also includes space for one additional house within the row. The project also included a National Panhellenic Conference (NPHC) Fraternity chapter room building and extending to the NPHC Complex on College Avenue.
The IFC Fraternity houses are 2 story colonial style buildings with brick veneer and two story porches. Each was designed to provide a unique character to the fraternity. The houses each contain 21 beds and an open concept living, dining and kitchen area plus study rooms spread throughout.
The NPHC Fraternity house includes four Chapter Rooms organized around a central shared corridor with services. Each chapter room was designed to be unique to each fraternity. The site includes a patio for shared use by the fraternities. The design of the building is complementary to the existing NPHC Sorority Chapter Room building located at the same complex.

ARCHITECTURE
From the client’s initial request, we partner with our clients to develop a solution to translate your architectural needs into a beautiful built environment. Programming, presentation drawings, and completed construction documents are developed all through a well-orchestrated architect-client partnership.
PLANNING
Through site analysis studies, programming exercises, and integral client communication, we develop a master plan for facilities, campuses, and developments. This can include project phasing to aid in construction budgets and client timelines to meet any need.
INTERIOR DESIGN
Culmination of a new facility results in selection of colors, materials, and furnishings. We give your project a comprehensive approach from conception to completion. We coordinate on the owner’s behalf to make the transition as seamless as possible.
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
Both partners hold LEED accreditations and actively pursue energy saving avenues for every project. Sustainable design is incorporated into every project regardless of seeking building certification. We continually advocate for the importance of responsibly managing our natural resources while maintaining a grasp on the scope and budget.
